One problem, Mae's idea of camping has room service. All hope isn't lost.the only thing Mae got to keep that the government didn't seize is a tourist camp ground, Happy Trails, in Normal, Kentucky and an RV to live in. Mae finds herself homeless, friendless, and penniless. Her plush lifestyle in the big city of New York comes to a screeching halt after the FBI raids her mansion and arrests her husband, Paul West, for a Ponzi scheme that rips people out of millions of dollars. If you love her quirky southern characters and small town charm with a mystery to solve, you're going to love her new cozy mystery series! Mae West, a far cry from the Hollywood actress, has been thrown for a loop. A Campers and Criminal Mystery Series is another brainchild of USA Today Bestselling Author Tonya Kappes. This book was quick and pleasant, and I look forward to more in this series.Welcome to Normal, Kentucky~ where nothing is normal. I love the campground as a setting for future books since there's a wide range of people and places for some action to happen. Her intentions are good, and her guilt about her husband's actions is realistic. Mae is pretty cute, energetic, and I liked her much better after she realized that she needed to get her butt in gear and do something. Of course, it doesn't help to find a couple of bodies along the way and almost get killed.

But in the meantime, she settles in, gets to know everyone, and starts to realize that this is a pretty nice, quiet life. It didn't take her too long to realize that she can fix it up to sell it. She's shocked to discover the campground to be completely run down and nothing like the brochure she expected. Her only choice is to head to a campground in her name, in a crummy camper that her husband also left in her name. She, of course, is also tainted by his crime even though she had nothing to do with it. Mae West (amusing, but an accident of marriage) has been ousted from her privileged life because of her husband's Ponzi scheme and arrest. I chose it simply because it would fit a challenge, but I ended up enjoying it very much.

#1 in the Camper and Criminals cozy mystery series
